A.J. awakes naked--in a strange bed beside a nude Jeni Fazio asleep in his arms. Spending the night having had one glass of wine too much & late evening conversations after a one day belated Homemade Italian Birthday Dinner that Jeni prepared for him at her suburban home.

Returning inside to rejoin Jeni who had finished clearing the table refrigeratoring the excessive left-overs & then loaded the dish-washer.
The couple sat together closely on the leather couch in the dim living room as the evening neared dusk after refilling their glasses of wine. Which leads them into a long overdue conversation they had conveniently avoided since A.J. took Jeni under his protection after her Mob husband Benny was murdered with his mistress in bed three months before.

Jeni replied forthright: "I wish I could honestly tell you that I know absolutely nothing about my late husband's business affairs--But I can't Anthony. A.J. remained silent & listened to her as he lit a cigarette & she retrieves him a heavy glass ashtray.
"There is no Honor or any fucking Rules amongst the Mob as they speak of. It's all a Front-A Facade that they construct to insulate themselves from the outside forces that be such as the FBI . & All the other mobbed-up fucks inside the Families from questioning or challengeing their powers & authority. There's no Omerta Code of Silence?! Just ask Sammy the Bull or Vinny Ocean?!"
Jeni reaches to take a drag from A.J.'s cigarette as she continued her mild rant:

"Anyway--Needless to say: Butch moved on Paulie & Benny first before they could. I believe it was all Larry's fault that Benny is dead & he's not. Larry was just using my Benny to do all the dirty work then take the blame & leaving no one but Larry to be Boss--Until you came along my Don Anthony John!"
A.J. answers Jeni with a second polite question: "You aren't resentful of Benny for mistreating & cheating on you?!"
"OH NO ANTHONY! I loved Benny! He never mistreated me or cheated on me for that matter. He never kept his extra marital affairs secret from me. We had an open marriage."
"I see--Forgive my presumptions."
"No Apologies A.J. I understand most outsiders see our marriage as a disastrous failure but it wasn't!--We made a beautiful son between us & were together & married almost two decades.
Benny saved my life from the gutter when I was still a teenager. He was making a drug-drop at this Flop-House where I was laying half naked & wasted when he came in. I could hear everything but I couldn't move my body.
