CAFE NAPOLI
HELLS KITCHEN NYC

XXXVI

Vito drops Cork off at the T-Storage Unit office;  Then ran by Agent Skiff's Real Estate office before driving over the bridge from Jersey to visit the "Cafe Napoli." in HELLS KITCHEN--NYC

Being greeted by a younger hostess inside the door who introduced herself as Marsha.  "Let me guess, you two look like brothers & you are from Jersey?"

MARSHA "VENUS" PAGILIERI

A.J. warmly smiles anwering, "Yes.  How did you know that?"

"It's apparent that you two are related & New Yorkers don't dress as well as guys from Jersey!"  Marsha sincerely compliments them as she runs her flat hands down to straighten the front of A.J."s dress-jacket.

A.J. SOPRANO

& Then she reached over to tug  at Vito's starched collar & adjust his narrow twisted dress-tie knot.

VITO (SPATAFORE) SOPRANO

"My name is Anthony Soprano & this is my brother, Vito."  Then he hands her the Cafe Napoli business card & asked for George.

Flipping the card over to look at the name written on the back.  "Yes.  That's my father's hand-writing.  But he isn't here yet.  I'm surprised he would want to speak to you." (How So?)

"He normally doesn't waste his time nor breath, for that matter, speaking to younger people my age.

" So if you two fine gentlemen would like to have lunch?  I'm certain he will arrive before you finish your meals."

After suggesting the Daily Special & a Wine, Marsha served the two young men salads & each a hearty plate of cheesy, home-made lausanga with breadsticks.

Marsha returned to their table to clear away the dishes & informed A.J. that their meals were "On the House." & Her father, George had arrived & was sitting outdoors on the patio out-back.

Marsha escorted Anthony & Vito through the kitchen & past the storage shelves of jarred pasta sauce to a small green screened back door.

GEORGE "GEO" PAGILIERI

RETIRED
NYC MOB BOSS

"Father.  This is Anthony Soprano Jr. & his brother Vito.  Anthony, Vito, this is my father George Pagilieri."  George stands to shake Anthony & Vito's hands from his wooden yard chair at  a small table on a mossy quarry-stone patio in the shady--cool garden of roses where he sat reading a book titled, "The Prince."

"I wasn't aware that you had a brother Anthony?--Although I can see your close resemblence in features & appearence."

"We weren't aware of it either Sir."

"Well then.--Fetch us all a double espresso Venus,--Please." (Yes Father.)

George offers A.J. & Vito a seat across the table from him. Holding up the book title for Anthony & Vito to see.

"Have you read this?" (No Sir.) Please, drop the Sirs Kid. My friends call me GEO. (Yes Sir.  Geo.--& I go by A.J. myself, Sir.)

"This book is our Family-Bible, "The Prince."  I suggest you read this & re-read it again & again."  George closes the marked page.

GEORGE "GEO" PAGILIERI

RETIRED
NYC MOB BOSS

"So--"Isn't it Ironic?"  Your late Boss father will be dead ten years today,  June 7th, 2007." (Yes Sir.)

I wanted to meet you my Young Sopranos to confess my failure & short-comings to your Father & your Family.  Whether you are angered by it or you can forgive me, it makes little difference.  What I have to tell you A.J., you have the Right to Hear & to Know.  Especially now, with your new position as the Head of your Family.

"I have been haunted by my decison everyday, even after all these years.  Your father Tony called me & asked a favor of me.  He wanted me to broker a sit-down with Butch & Carmine Jr.at a neutral location to discuss clipping Phil Leotardo to resolve the War & Make Peace between the Families.--It sounded & appeared to be the right thing to do.--But it wasn't.  Tony took the bait & walked straight into Carmine & Butch's Trap.

Carmine Jr.wanted Phil Leotardo dead for siding with Johnny Sack as the Luppitazzi Family instead of him.

& Then Phil had Carmine Jr's cousin/comare murdered for not kicking up from her shamlocking directly to Johnny instead of up to Carmine Jr.

Butch wanted Tony to get Phil out of the way because Phil had refused him to kill a Boss, your father Tony.

Phil Leotardo's response to Butch:

"You don't fucking kill a Boss--You can't kill a fucking Boss!

And if you do--What do you have?

What are you left with?  NOTHING. Absolutely Fucking Nothing. "

But Butch needed a reason & wanted Tony out of the way for pistol-whipping a Made-Guy & knocking Coco's teeth out. & Then he threatened to shoot Butch too in the heat of the moment as he left after defending your sister, his daughter Meadow's Honor.  (Tony probably should of clipped both of them right there & then took the Commission's heat & paid some absurd sum of  retribution.

Butch wanted to have Paulie Walnuts named Defacto Boss with Benny Fazio as his under-boss of the DiMeo Family to be under the Luppicasi Family in NYC's Control.

GEORGE "GEO" PAGILIERI

RETIRED
NYC MOB BOSS

When the sit-down concluded I knew it was a Mistake.  Tony was sitting alone at the table with all of the co-conspiritors against him.

What I know now my Young Sopranos, is that War isn't always the worse of two Evils.--Who knows how long your father, Tony would of lived if the War had continued.

Phil would have been alive & wouldn't allow Butch & Carmine to take Tony out.

Plus Tony wouldn't of come out of hiding so soon & made himself so accessiable & vulderable with Silvio Dante still on life-support in the hospital ICU.

"You can't fucking kill a Boss or What is this Thing of Ours' all about?

It's about the Rules & If we don't follow these Rules & Princples?"

George holds up the book & slaps it firmly with his hand. "There is, No Cosa Nostra!"

So Butch has you take out Paulie Walnuts & Benny Fazio before he was clipped himself.  For which no one in the Commission knows or can explain why or who killed him.

But with Butch's death it gave you the opportunity to claim the top position as the Boss of your late Don father's DiMeo Family.

I can tell you the plan of the Commission was to name Coco Boss & Carlo Gervasi as under-boss with Carmine Jr.'s backing until you opposed it & threatened War.

& As you found out A.J., money can solve almost all disputes. & The Commission, as every man, has their price.  (Unless your name is Thomas More)

Now, since Phil was killed, Tony is dead, Paulie is dead & Butch is dead.  That only leaves Carmine Jr. w/ Albie Cianflone & myself remaining alive from that secret sit-down.

What I expect is Carmine Jr. will want Albie clipped next then myself because we are the only two left alive from that meeting now who could testify against Carmine Jr. for Phil & your father's murders.

A.J. & Vito silently sat & listened to George's admission as he recorded it on his cell-phone using his ear-buds' microphone.

Then George concludes by telling them that Law #15, of  "The 48 Laws of Power," states that you must elliminate all of your predicessors & enemies; (& win over the old influencers' favor,)

"If you are to have a long lasting & successful reign:

You must always maitain your state & status first at any cost.

For if you loose your state/status you will have nothing. & What you spared in cost will be the source of your demize & lack."

A.J. & Vito thank George for informing them of his Revelations & Wise Counsel.

Then lastly George asked if they played Chess?  (Some.) "You both should play it more than--How about Bocci-Ball?
