Compagino ducks in the funeral home office door to inform A.J. that Deanne Pontecorvo & her two older children Robbie & Alle were there to see him when Deanne entered charging past Cork with her two children sheepishly following their distraught mother in past Compagino holding the brass knob door open for them.
A.J. stood & turned to tell Raymond to wait & stay as he faced down Deanne Pontecorvo the widow wife of Eugene Pontecorvo who was one of his late mob-boss father Tony's soldiers in DIMeo Crime Family who had committed suicide by strangulation--Eugene hung himself in the basement of their home over a decade ago.
"SO--You are the Big-Shot now?! Following in your Dead Daddy's foot-steps?! How could I ignore your personal invitation to attend this last great gangster funeral? & Providing a rental car for my personal privacy? & 2K$ for expenses?!"
Deanne continues mocking & laughing: "I WISH it was so simple to think this would be the last of your Thing with Junior's death. BUT ITS NOT THE END IS IT?"
A.J. remained silent maintained direct eye to eye contact with her from the moment she came charging in to insult & attack his character.
"No--I can see that it isn't the end of anything! In fact it appears to me that you r family is only flourishing after your father's death. Unlike my two degenerate off-spring my son is a junkie & his little sister is a whore!"
A.J. noticed that neither of her children even flinched to hear their rotten mother to disgrace & degrade their persons.
"To tell you the truth my Young Soprano the only reason I came was to spit in Junior's waxy-air brushed face!" (MOTHER?! Robbie & Alle said simultaneously) "Don't Mother me--If I hadn't given birth of you I would have to doubt that!"
" You can do that--If that is what you want to do." A.J. calmly responded to Deanne.
"I would of rather spit in your father's face instead. He's the one that killed my husband! He wouldn't allow him to get out of the family so we could move to Florida & start all over."
"You can spit in my face instead--If that would make you happy Deanne!" A.J. submits to her.
In which she did! Stepping forward on the toes of her high heels to spit directly in A.J.'s face in front of everyone in the room. (OH--Raymond Curto said aloud)
A.J. calmly removed a hankerchief from his black dress-jacket to wipe his face clean of her saliva. As Deanne remained standing in glaring at him watching for his reaction.
A.J. breaks their gaze to peer over at the shocked looks on Robbie & Alle's faces as she covered her mouth with both hands saying "Mom?!"
A.J. then turns to see Raymond sitting in his wheelchair with a dirty grin across his clean-shaved face--raising his second glass of rum to A.J. who returns the grin with a knod of his head to face Deanne & He slaps her across the face with an flat-open palm. Knocking her off balance as she staggered to remain standing on her high heels while holding her struck cheek with a hanging head of big hair.
"You call yourself a mother? You have two handsome & healthy children here that are preening with promise but you speak & treat them as dirt under your feet."
"For One--My father didn't kill your husband. Eugene killed himself--He took his own life. AND now I have a good idea Why! To get the fuck away from you." Then A.J. concludes by saying:
"Isn't it written in your "Good Book" that it is better to dwell in the rafters under the roof with a complaining woman?! You blame & shame everybody else instead of looking yourself in the mirror."
"None of us asked to be born to this life--None of us had any choice. But we have a choice how we live our lives in this life. What is preventing you from starting over now some ten years after."
"It's not anyone's fault that Eugene took his life besides himself. It's not my father's or the Family's fault it isn't your's or your children's fault. & You will never move on from the past until you accept it for what it is--It's in the past--It's Over."
"ARE YOU FINISHED?!" Deanne snaps & flips her head of big hair back up with a cursing glare . Without looking at her children Deanne says:
"Let's go kids-We're Leaving!" & She spins on a heel while grabbing her daughter Alle's arm to leave.
A.J. tells Robbie "Wait.--You don't have to leave with her. Stay. We can take you home afterwards."
Raymond smiles in agreement. "Come on Rob. Sit down & have a drink with us before Raymond here drinks it all!"
The three young men laughed as they sat down together as Deanne stormed out dragging Alle behind her. (ROBBIE?)
A.J. produced a deck of cards asking if they'd like to play a couple hands of "Black-Jack"?!
"Yea. Sure.-Deal me in!" Raymond said reaching for his wallet inside his black dress jacket. HOW ABOUT YOU ROBERTO?!" (I got Nothing) "Yea? Well you do now--Here!" Raymond tossed him a 20$ bill. "DEAL him in too A.J.--I Cut."
A.J. could see there was an instant fondness shared between the two young men as he dealt out the cards. Then A.J. could see that Raymond was deliberately loosing hands on purpose when they played five card stud where he was bidding up the Pot so Robbie could win more. A.J. played along & Robbie put over 200$ in his pocket after an hour of playing cards & repaying Raymond back with a 20$ dollar bill.
