BANKER
MORTGAGE HOLDER
III
A.J. entered through the Bank's double wooden entrance doors into a small lobby from the past with 16 foot tall walls with high painted tin ceiling tiles and clean white porcelian tile floors leading p to three cashier barred windows which were all closed before one of the cashier windows blind was lifted open: "May I help you Sir?"
A.J. steps forward to approach an elderly woman standing behind the barred cashier window to ask if he could speak to the Banker's? As he wondered where the Hell was he at? The woman asked the name of who was calling? "Anthony Soprano." After excusing herself only to return & say: "Mr will see you now--Go around the corner through the railing gate to the Banker's cage outside the portal of a large wall-safe.
"What can I do for you Mr Soprano--I knew your late father Tony when he was your age. We had a long & profitable working relationship.
A.J. ignored the oldman' Banker's modest admissions. & He produced Kelli's mortgage book to slide it across the counter under the caged window.
"Yes.--Yes. Mrs Kelli Moltisanti's House Mortgage. Allow me to pull her files."
"The shows here according to our records that payments are 4 months behind & is 1600$ in the rears."
A.J. slides 2000$ across the counter to the Banker's to count it himself to deduct that A.J. paid the outstanding payment balance plus next month's payment.
"Are there any late charges or fees associated with your inconvenience Sir?" A.J. asked pointedly.
"No--No my Young Soprano. We understand that Mrs Moltisanti's Young daughter's experiencing serious health issues." The Banker's said as he filled out a receipt for payments received & hand-stamped each month inside her mortgage book before returning it to A.J.
"Curious Sir? What is the remaining balance of her mortgage if I may ask?' A.J. enquired.
According to these tecords: The house was purchased for 150K$ ten years ago & has paid 40K$ back.
A.J. offered bluntly: "I can pay you 100K$--Cash to assume the property deed."
The Banker's looks A.J. in the eyes & warmly smiles shaking his head:
"Yes--my Young Soprano we can do that. There is no doubt that you aren't your father's son! Direct & to the point. Tony would tease me that he was making me an offer that I couldn't refuse--But of course I knew he really wasnt teasing."
A.J. takes a fat envelope from his dress-jacket pocket to slide it across to him.
"You'll find it all there--I trust that I will Mr Soprano." The Banker's set the heavy envelope aside as he hand-weighed it. If A.J. was anything like Tony as he suspected he would be insulted if he was to count it out in front of him after he said it was all there.
"HERE YOU ARE MR SOPRANO!" The Banker's slides him two land deeds. (What's This?) A.J. holds up the second deed.
"That is for their old family farm Tony used it as collateral to secure the mortgage loan. The deed had the three names Christpher Moltisanti Tony Soprano & Caitlyn (Moltisanti) Soprano of ownership.
A.J. nods as he slips the deeds inside his jacket pocket. "Good doing business with you Sir!"
"Good doing business with you Mr Soprano--Come Back!"
A.J. being well pleased by the results thus far that early New Day morning. Learning Caitlyn was actually his little half-sister & gaining pocession of the old family farm & secured it on her behalf from the bank taking it with their home from them.
Next A.J. drove to call upon Josephine Palmice. Arriving shortly after 10AM & Finding Josie was just getting home from working over-time after her grave-yard shift on "Third-Trick."
"A.J. Soprano! Look at you--What are you doing here? Did my boys sleep-in & failed to show up for work?!" Josephine asked concerned.
"No. No. They are at Work! I actually seen them earlier at 7 o'clock at the compound!" (Good. They both promised me before I left for work at midnight they would.) "They did! I actually came to see you Josie! (Me?!--Why Me?!)
Josephine winks & elbows him--"Well if that's the case I better invite you inside before I fall over! I'm dead on my feet! I'm not as young as I use to be-But I'm still good once as I ever was!" She teased as she tried to unlock her front door when Rosemary opens it from the inside wearing a nightgown & shielding the bright sunshine from her sleepy eyes.
"Are you out here talking to yourself mother?!--Oh. No. I'm sorry--Come on--Get in here-Where have you been?! Hi Mr Soprano--(Please call me A.J.) "Hi A.J." (Hi Rosemary!)
"Where do you think your mother has been Sweetheart? I've been working my fucking ass off in that Hell-Hole all night & half the morning while you have been sleeping with your pretty head resting upon a cool--soft pillow!"
Rosemary glares makes a pouty-face crossing her arms.
"Go--Go cover yourself up or go back to bed ?! As you can see we have company!" (Whatever Mother--You're Welcome!)
Josie smiles at A.J. & said: "It's a Stage she's going through! (Laughing) "Can I make you an Espresso?! I cant drink one or I'll never fall asleep today--I have one more night--Tonight's my Friday Night & I'm runningon empty!!"
"If this isn't a good time for you Josephine?! I can always return at a more convenient time for you?!" A.J. attempted to stand from the kitchen table.
"Oh Heavens No! Stay A.J.--Just let me get this bra off! Nothing worse then a sweaty old bra cutting into your ribs & rubbing you raw!"
Josie swears reaching around behind herself to unhook & remove the loose bra-straps out through her shirt sleeves to toss it aside. " That's much better--Let the Tata's Breath!" She lifts her free-falling breast to shake them in front of him laughing.
Josephine served A.J. an Espresso & a clean ashtray before excusing herself to change out of her work clothes & wash her face with rose-water.
Returning to join A.J. at the kitchen table. "So what can I do for you Anthony?!" Josie asked turning her head slightly.
"I have a new Numbers Game!" (Number Game?)
"Yes. It's called the "Friday Close" (Friday Close?) "Yes it will be once weekly a 10$ game to play 7 numbers .
The winning numbers will be determined then by the Final--"Friday Close "of the New York Stock-Market at 4 o'clock PM--EST."
"OK--I get it--It's pure chance & there's no disputing the randomness of it.)
"So what do you want A.J. ?"
"I get my 20% of the total sum. That leaves 80% to deduct your 30%.
The prize pay-out will divide the remaining half of the proceeds equally amongst the winning tickets.
"What if no one wins?"
"We divide the unclaimed amount 20/30% accordingly between us then roll over the remaining portion to the following week's game."
A.J. hears: "I think it sound Fantastic!" But Josephine's lips weren't moving when Rosemary stepped out around the corner where she had been standing undetected to over-hear their conversation.
"What were you doing Rosemary dear?! Easedropping on your mother & her company?!
"I think it's a good idea! & It so "Catchy" sounding too!"
"Well there you have it Anthony--We're both in!" Josie hugs her daughter's waist tightly standing next to her chair.
"GOOD DEAL!--You can start it next Friday if you want?!"
"Oh Hell No! Let's put it through a test run tonight. I can collet bets all night long at the car plant. Those haplesss fuckers love throwing 10$ around for no good! Plus Rosemary here can drum up action over the phone wires while her mother is sleeping the day away!"
"That's totally up to you Girls! So it's a Deal?!" (DEAL! DEAL!) The mother & daughter agreed together.
Then A.J. stopped in front of the door and said: "I almost forgot!" And A.J. produced an envelope with 10K$. (What's This?!) " Just take it & dont talk about it--Its from me."
Josephine frames A.J.'s face & kisses him on the mouth praising him: "You are a Good Son Anthony--Thank-you."
A.J. kisses her back on the head and told her that she was a Good Woman herself as he ducted out the door to go.
