"Secondly Roberto--I pay you to listen & to drive--Not to ask Questions!--Understand?!"
Robbie silently knods & starts the car to leave. "But--because you did ask I will tell you Why: I want to take Alle with us to the hospital to join Franny & her cousins for moral support. I seen at the funeral how those two girls appeared to hit it off. Sorta like you & Raymond Curto Jr meshed together?!" (Yea. I like him--He's a real Funny Fucker--Once you Catch his Drift!)
Arriving at the Newark Hospital the three of them entered through the open-glass rotary lobby door entrance into the shockingly refreshing comfort of the central air-conditioning from the stifling summer heat out-doors.
Robbie & Alle Pontecorvo sheepishly followed A.J. into the crowded ICU Waiting Room of loud whispering to find the 3 Ring Circus that A.J. suspected once the word of Tom's serious-accident was made known to the family before his identity was released to the public.
A.J.'s Aunt Barbara was sitting in one corner flanked by her older sister Janice on one side playing the role of the drama-queen holding a tissue up to dry her squirting crocodile tears.
While his mother Carmela sat on the opposite side glaring across Barb's tired hanging head at Janice's ridiculous behavior. Meadow sat with Rosale & Kelli Aprile while Francesca sat with her cousins Alyssa Sophia & Nica leaving Tommy to sit in the other corner alone staring aimlessly at the moving carpet patterns.
A.J. elbows Robbie to go & console Tommy as Franny came up to greet Alle & invite her to come sit with them. As Nica came running up to hug A.J. around the waist. "I knew you would be here!"
A.J. leans over to lift her up with one arm to hold her as she hugs his neck & kissed his cheek. "YOU ARE GETTING SO HEAVY NICA!"

"No Nica--I was saying: You are getting Big & growing up so fast is all I meant!-- Not that you're Fat!" (Better Be!) Nica gives him the eye!

A.J. kisses her cheek & sets her feet back down on the ground. Teasingly--He pretends to be shaking out is arm like it hurt from lifting her as she giggled away to return to the other girls.
Meadow stands up & straightened her skirt to speak to A.J. who spoke to her first:
"Aunt Barb has been on her feet almost 36 hours straight now. What I want is Janice to take her home to her house to feed her & give her something to sleep so she can rest. There's nothing more anyone can do by being here for Uncle Tom." Meadow gives him an assuring look of wholeheartedly agreeing with her little brothers sediments.
A.J. approaches Francesca to pull aside to speak with her. "Meadow has informed me that you know how to drive & you can drive quite well! Besides mentioning that you tend to become impatient in slow-traffic & can be a lead-foot at times--But--Don't We All?!" Warmly smiling A.J. continues saying: " She also said you wanted to purchase your own vehicle?!"
"Yes. I recieved almost 4K$ from my two singing performances at the funeral & then at the post-dinner! & A handsome young man named Carmine started to pass a hat the first night & then he passed a plate around for me on the second night. There were all big bills too--No 10's or 20's Just 50's & 100's. Even a couple 500$ bills!"
"You are most deserving Sweetheart--You are very talented to play music & have such a beautiful voice!" (Thank-You for saying that Anthony!) Franny grabs both of A.J. broad shoulders to lift herself up on her tip-toes to kiss her older brother's clean-shaved cheek.
"But you should save your earnings to get whatever you want for yourself besides a car." Franny half pouts crossing her arms.
"Because we will provide you with a safe & dependable vehicle to drive when you attend a music college this autumn."
& A.J. hands Francesca his rental car keys--"But until then--You can drive my rental car for now!"
"OH A.J. THANK-YOU!--THANK-YOU!" Franny leaps up to wrap both arms around his thick neck. "You're the best big-brother ever--Besides Vito of course!" (Of Course!)
A.J. smiles at Franny's happiness amongst all of the low-hanging black-clouds of gloom & doom over the waiting room.
Then A.J. gives Francesca a fresh & crispy 500$ bill.
"Here take this money to take Alle & your cousins to the mall to get something to eat. & Then go shopping for appropriate-fitting swimsuits & beach-towels for each of you. So afterwards you can take them to the Skyline golf coarse country-club swimming pool to refresh yourselves!"
"Oh A.J.--Thank-you so much! &Thank-You for trusting me most of all!"
A.J. kisses her atop of her lovely head & told her that he trusted her because he knew he could. "Now Go--Get out of here! All of you!" A.J. laughes--smiling as he turns to address his Aunt Barbara.
A.J. informs his Aunts & Mother what was going to happen. Janice is going to take Barbara home to her house. Feed & bath her then give her sleeping medicine so she can rest peacefully & regain her strengthen.
& There was no dispute amongst any of them as they all three knodded their heads in agreement when Nica runs up to her mother & asked Janice if she go out to eat & shopping with the big girls?!"
Janice hugs Nica tightly & says "Yes Dear. Do you need any money?" (No--A.J. gave Franny 500$ to take us!)
"Well then make sure all of you girls wear your seat-belts. Your Uncle Tom wore his & it saved his life."
"Christ." A.J. shakes his head to turn away from Janice's comment to be standing face to face with Meadow again. Now she has her arms crossed & wearing a glare. (WHAT?!)
"You're What A.J.--You're giving four teenage girls the keys to your car & 500$ too?! (YEA?!)
"Daddy would of never did that for me!"
"Well Bing--I am not Franny's Daddy! I am her big brother!"
"OK--Fine!" & Meadow stretches out her open hand. (What?!) "I want mine too then!" (You Want your What?!) "I want my 500$ bill too "Little Brother!"
"Now that sounds more like my old sister again!" (You Think?!) A.J. smiles big "Yea--I Think!" (GOOD.)
& A.J. gives his big sister her own 500$ bill which she slid down between her deep cleavage inside her bra for safe-keeping.
"THANK-YOU!" Meadow leans up to kiss him & whispered in his near-ear "You truly are the Best Brother ever A.J."
"Take Mom & the Apriles with you out to eat!"
"I will--& Maybe we will go shopping for swimsuits to go to the country-club pool too?!"
"You Should! It would do you all some Good!"
A.J. goes over to retrieve Tommy & Robbie from Alle & Sophia.
"Come on Boys enough with sniffing up all of these heavy--intoxicating smells of women's perfumes!--It's Time for us to return to our Mann's World of Burdens & Sweat!"
"Say--How about you two young men be gentlemen & escort this hoard of young ladies down to the parking lot & point out to them the car we came in. Then keep an eye out for Vito to be arriving soon to get us. I need to speak with the nurse station before we leave."
Then as A.J. turned towards the door to leave the waiting room Kelli Aprile stood to stop him to say:
"I just want you to know Anthony that my Mother & I have decided to remain here in Jersey instead of returning to Florida immediately with your mother. Who has also decided to stay over the weekend until Monday & stay at our house."
A.J. grabs Kelli by both shoulders to look her in the eyes to say: "I'm Glad." Then he kisses her atop the head in leaving "OK--I have to go."
