That Summer of 1977

Carmela DeAngelis was 16 & Tony Soprano was 17 with his 18th birthday quickly approaching in August

Tony got two tickets for the

LYNYRD SKYNYRD BAND

CONCERT

Convention Hall

Asbury Park, New Jersey

July 13, 1977

Tony took Carmela to the show on the back of a vintage Triumph motorcycle that he sneaked off with.

His father "Johnny-Boy" Soprano had the hocked motorcycle locked up in the garage as collateral for an outstanding debt

Tony hiked Carmela up onto his broad strong shoulders & waded through the pressing floor crowd until they reached front-stage

Carmela was heading level with the stage and close enough to see all the band members faces during the show

Carmela had a secret crush on the lead guitar player Gary Rossington with his head of long hanging hair in his face as he played the electric guitar like he was demon possessed

After the concert Tony took Carmela to the beach before returning home to Newark.

They would have sex together for the first time that dark night on the empty beach.

Tony had been patiently enduring "Blue-Balls" from dating Carmela that summer by denying him consent. But Tony told her he would be 18 next month and they wouldn't be able to do it after that.

An argument that didn't make much sense but Carmela was weary of waiting to have sex herself. She knew though once she did he he would dump her for a new conquest.

But the opposite outcome happened. Tony believed Carmela was a virgin and that he had "Popped her Cherry" which was untrue but she never admitted it to him.

So Tony wanted her all to himself & didn't want Carmela be with anyone else besides him.

Tony took a real loose pearl necklace from his front pants pocket to give her. He has been saving & carrying the string of pearls on his person until he could give it to Carmela after they had sex.

Tony would show strokes of romance when he was younger before he became more corrupt by the mob. They were younger lovers & Tony was still a young dreamer in the Summer of 1977.

Unfortunately taunting the memory

it would prove to be one of the final shows for The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band after a fatal airplane crash killing several band members later that Autumn in October 1977
