So A.J. changes the subject on Meadow: "Have you gotten my birthday present yet?!" (WHAT?) "You heard me--Have you gotten my birthday present yet?!" A.J. repeats himself with a smirk across his gloating face.
Meadow pretends to shoot him a glare as she lifted her head off his chest to peer up at him half laughing: "I heard you the first time--No. (NO?!) "NO." Meadow insisted as she finished her statement: "No. I'm not going to tell you if I have or not!" (Why Not?)
"Because. I know you Anthony John Soprano Jr!" (What's that suppose to Mean Bing?!)
"You know what it means--I'm not telling you!" (Not Tell Me What?!)
"I'm telling you Nothing.--Except." (Except What?!)
"Except--Look there!" Meadow said as she poked him hard in the chest. (Look Where?!) "At the door--A late-comer." (Yea?)
"It's that Jason Melfi kid I told you about last week?--Seems like forever ago now?!" (He doesn't look like a kid?!)
"I found his drunken mother sitting on the cemetery bench crying in front of Daddy's gravestone on his death-date. She was his Shrink & she had rejected Dad because she was led to believe by her colleagues that her therapy sessions were counter-productive to his treatment & recovery from panic-attacks. Siting because she had actually became a codependent of his dysfunctional character & which resulted in her actually empowering & enabling him to act-out even more bazzair & deviant self-serving behaviors." (She told you all that?!)
"Yes. Not in so many words!--The point is she blamed herself for Daddy's death because she gave up on him professionally & personally. I believe in her heart she really loved him whether she will admit it herself?!"
"Yea?--Sounds alot like Rhiannon & I's Relationship: "LOVE--HATE--LOVE." (AIC)
Meadow escorts Jason Melfi past Compagino into the funeral home office to introduce him to A.J.
"A.J.--This is Jason Melfi. Jason--This is my "Little" brother A.J. Soprano. Jason has told me he wanted to meet you Anthony." Meadow finished taking a step backwards to allow the two young men to cordially greet each other with a firm hand-shake.
Jason nervously--anxiously begins by saying: "I realize the hour is getting late but I'd like to speak to you about my mother (Dr Melfi) "Yes. Jennifer Melfi--My mother had a nervous breakdown the same night Meadow & I met locating her at the cemetery on your father's death-date which she has observed in the same drunken manner for the past ten years. (Yes.)
"I drove her home & started her bath to run to the pharmacy to pick-up her prescriptions before closing hours & when I returned home I found her laying in a collapsed & bloody state appearing to be unresponsive from so much blood-loss staining the carpet. I knelt down beside her to find a faint pulse as I called 9-1-1 for paramedics & ambulance."
Jason continues the story of his mother saying that after he left her she apparently became enraged & went throughout the entire house into every room to smash all of the mirrors until she collapsed from exhaustion & the blood loss having cut herself smashing all of the mirrors out with her fist.
Jennifer had been notified by mail that the sexual predator that raped her over a decade before was being released from prison after serving three consective sentences for three other counts of rape after the system failed to have him prosecuted for his first offense violating her in a parking garage stair-well. & He walked away freely to rape over & over again.
"Now. My mother is wearing a straitjacket in a "Queit Room" with padded walls & only a bare mattress on the padded floor in the mental ward."
Fury ran through Jason's jerking body as he attempted to gather himself by running his fingers through the long hair of his hanging head.
Looking up at A.J. Jason says: "I know that you are a very powerful man Anthony & You can get things done--I want you to kill this motherfucker for me & I will pay you whatever you ask!"
"OH. (OH--I'VE Heard more then too much here!) Meadow covers her ears with both hands to leave. Kicking the office door with her pointed toed high heel for Cork to open the door to allow her to leave before hearing another word.
A.J. warmly smiles & puts his arm around Jason to walk him over to the couch & poured him a drink.
Lighting a cigarette after he served Jason his drink. A.J. exhaled a cloud of smoke over his head before he began to explain to Jason that he can't go around anywhere in public or private as they were there & verbally speak--talk in a threatening manner against anyone ever. You never know who is listening.
"I fully understand your anger & hatred for this low-life piece of shit but what I have learned on this earth in my short lifetime that Fate has a way of punishing someone far worse & beyond any way I could ever imagine." Pausing to hit his cigarette: "You should refocus on your mother's emotional & mental well-being & health. We control what we can my dear friend & we accept what we can not. Allowing Fate to have the Final word."
A.J. thanked Jason for attending their Uncle's funeral & that he wished his mother a speedy recovery as he escorted him towards the office door. Telling Jason sternly that as far as he was concerned their conversation never happened. Jason agrees with a disappointed smile & a handshake.
When the two young gentlemen stepped out of the office into the hallway they could hear Francesca singing "Ungrateful Heart" at the conclusion of Junior's Showing as he himself sang over a decade before at Jackie Aprile's funeral.
"Who is singing that song Mother?"
"I don't know--Why?"
"Because. I am going to marry her!"
