Born to the giant Fárbauti and the goddess/giantess Laufey, Loki is a jötunn (giant) by blood but lives among the Æsir in Asgard due to a blood-brother oath with Odin


His personality is cunning, witty, silver-tongued, and boundary-breaking; he challenges norms, shifts allegiances, and drives many myths forward through his schemes

HISTORY & ROLE

Loki frequently accompanies Odin and Thor on adventures, using his intellect to resolve crises (e.g., retrieving Thor's hammer or helping build Asgard's walls).

However, his pranks escalate: he cuts Sif's hair, orchestrates the death of the god Baldr (by tricking the blind god Höðr), and insults all gods in the poem *Lokasenna*.

These actions lead to his punishment after Baldr's death—he is bound in a cave with a serpent dripping venom onto him until Ragnarök (the apocalyptic end of the world), where he breaks free and fights against the gods alongside his monstrous offspring.
